Shirley Burton

Passed away peacefully in her 87th year at Freeport Health Centre with her family by her side on Thursday November 24, 2016.

Beloved wife of Joseph Barszczewski, who predeceased her in 1981.

Beloved mother of Mary Perry (Steve), Anne Barszczewski (Harold Schwegel), Elizabeth Burton, Evelyn Burton, Catherine Burton (Rob Esposito), Michael Burton (Cathy), and Rosemarie Burton Spohn (Michael).

Dear grandmother of Jeffrey, Ryan, Laura, Amy, Megan, Candice, Richard, Nicole, Adam, Emily, and Julianne.

Survived by her sister, Joan Barclay (Bill) and sister-in-law, Jan. Also survived by her sister-in-law, Rita Guest (Dick); brother-in-law, John Barsczewski (Lise); and brother-in-law, Ralph.

Predeceased by her parents, James and Evelyn Corcoran; her brother, Allan Corcoran; and her sister-in-law, Theresa Oman.

In addition to being a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, Shirley was also an aunt, great-aunt, friend, and neighbour to many. She was a devoted parishioner of St. John’s Catholic Church, where she was a longtime member of the choir and Catholic Women’s League and will be greatly missed.

Sincere gratitude goes to the medical teams at Freeport Health Centre’s Palliative Care Unit and St. Mary’s Hospital Chest Unit for the excellent care and compassion they provided.

Shirley’s family will receive friends and relatives at the Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S. Kitchener on Sunday from 2-4, 7-9 pm. (Prayers 7:00pm)

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John’s R.C. Church, 85 Strange St. Kitchener on Monday November 28, 2016 at 11:00am.
