Terrence received a bachelor of arts from the University of Western Ontario and had a lifelong interest in history, world war movies and western films. Terrence taught elementary school for the Waterloo Region School Board, and enjoyed teaching the Mennonite children in the many rural schools surrounding Waterloo.
Terrence met the love of his life, Thelma (Reed) at a bowling social for teachers. They married in August 1965 and they together celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary prior to Thelma's passing in September 2013.
Terrence was very active in his community. From the 1950s through to the 1980s, Terrence was an active member of the Boy Scouts of Canada movement through the 12th Kitchener group both as a youth member and, together with Thelma, as an adult volunteer. He was a past president and long-time member of the Waterloo Historical Society. And together, Terrence and Thelma were long-time members of the Highland Baptist Church family. They also enjoyed camping, long road trips, visiting and hosting friends, and looking for deals on antiques at auctions, garage sales and flea markets. Terrence was known by many people across Canada as he and Thelma were quite involved with the Historical Automobile Society of Canada and they both greatly enjoyed twice touring from ocean to ocean across Canada in a 1936 Ford pulling a tent trailer.
Terrence was predeceased by wife Thelma (2013), brother William (2016), and is survived by son Shaun (Jeanette), Matthew (Karen), and grandchildren, Sam, Jeff, Jean and George.
Due to the current Covid restrictions, a private family service will be held. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or to Highland Baptist Church in Kitchener.
