He was born in Sturgeon Falls and is a member of the Dokis First Nation. He shared fond memories of living up north. Vince was fluent in both our official languages as well as Annishinaabemowin (Ojibwe).
He moved down to Kitchener in his 20's and worked at Harlequin Publishing, New Balance Shoe, and Greb Shoes in Waterloo Region before changing occupations. He then leaned on his great people skills as he became a Real Estate Agent with Century 21 and Peak Realty for many years.
He instilled a great awareness of giving back to the community through volunteerism. He proudly worked with the Sertoma Club, was past President of the KW Urban Native Wigwam Project, and past President of Weejeendim Native Resource Centre. He also contributed his time to local politics where he canvassed for others in many elections; it was through these activities that he met Jean Chretien (the picture of the two of them was always present in the front entry of his home). In recognition of his father, who served in the Canadian military, Vince served as Chair of the KW Poppy Fund for a time. He also served for a short time as president of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #50. Vince's hobbies included playing hockey, spending time with friends at the Legion, playing cards with KW Cribbage League, and traveling.
He is survived by his wife Sue; his children Jason (Heather), Tina, and Lena (Glenn); his step-children Kathy (Ron), Karen, and Deanna (Chris); his grandchildren Eric (Aftan), Jessica, Nolan, Tye, Shay, Jayden, and Shane; his step-grandchildren Eric, Drew, Noah, Jayden, Rollan, and Marci; his great-grandchildren Emma, Joey, Aurora, and Eli.
Vince was predeceased by his father Vince, his mother Marianne (née Restoule), his brothers Simon and Wilfred, his sister Yvonne, and his wife Jane.
Vince's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Westmount Memorial Celebration Centre, 1001 Ottawa St. S., Kitchener, (519-743-8900).
