

Betty L. Davis Turner, age 96, passed away to her Heavenly Home on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 8:50am. Betty was born September 3, 1928 in Muncie, Indiana where her parents lived for a short time. As a very young child, they moved to Tennessee. At the age of twelve, she was saved and baptized at Lonsdale Baptist Church where Betty and her family were members and attended regularly. She went to Lonsdale Elementary School and Rule High School, graduating in 1946. While at Rule, Betty worked at Lonsdale Branch Library where reading became a wonderful part of her life. After graduating, Betty was employed at Southern Bell Telephone Company. While working there, she married her High School sweetheart, Fred Turner. After starting their family in 1949, Betty initially chose to be a stay at home mom. Betty and Fred had three children. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to the Arlington community and became members of Arlington Baptist Church where she served in several different capacities at her church. In 1977, Betty was employed by the Knox County Health Department as a secretary. After a short time, she was promoted to Personnel Director. She enjoyed her job and cherished the friendships of her co-workers until her retirement in 1992.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Fred Turner; son, Fred Turner, Jr.; daughter, Connie S. Underwood; parents, Loren O. and Olgie I. Davis; sister, Sue Beam (Jessie). She is survived by son, Martin Turner (Marilyn); grandchildren, Brant Underwood (Erika), Nikki Snowman (Seth), Buck Turner (Josette), Mitchell Turner (Danielle); 12 great grandchildren; brother, James E. Davis (Patty).
Many thanks to all who cared for Betty in her time of need including UT Hospice Services. A special thank you to her daughter-in-law, Marilyn who provided endless hours of quality care to Betty during her final months.
A call of convenience will take place Wednesday, April 30th from 11am-7pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home. A graveside service will occur Thursday, May 1st at 11am at Lynnhurst Cemetery, meeting at Berry Lynnhurst Chapel at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
