Bob was a member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City and devoted his life to faith, family, and meaningful work. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, he carried the values of discipline, curiosity, and dedication throughout his life. His career as a nuclear engineer culminated in his retirement from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he was respected for his intelligence, creativity, and problem-solving spirit.
A true tinkerer at heart, Bob had a lifelong fascination with all things electrical and mechanical. Even in retirement, he remained active—traveling in his motor home, taking on personal projects, and working part-time with Centrus. He never stopped learning and sharing his knowledge with others.
Family was the heart of Bob’s life. He cherished his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and took pride in the rich family histories on both sides. His deep love for animals—especially his dogs—was well known, and he was affectionately called an “animal whisperer” for his gentle and patient nature.
Bob was preceded in death by his father, Boney Perry Nodine; mother, Marjorie Ann (Gilbert) Nodine; and brothers, Richard Claude Nodine, Perry Leo Nodine, and Edwin Gilbert Nodine.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Pamela Gorman Nodine; children, Meredith Grace Nodine, Bobbi Karlyn Given, Paul Richard (Saida) Nodine, Jennifer Gorman (Chris) Conner, Kenneth Aaron Gorman, Amber Gorman Cooper; grandchildren, Jacob, Zachary, Laura, Preston, Lillian, Andrew, Michael, Carly, Madison, Julia, Cole, Tyler, Abigail, and Paisley; great-grandchildren, Alora and Jaxston; siblings and their spouses, Bonnie (Pete) Inman, Connie (Dean) Manchester, and John (Tari) Nodine; and his beloved dog best friend, Buddy.
Bob will be deeply missed by all who knew him but forever remembered for his gentle spirit, quick mind, and unwavering love for his family, faith, and country.
A receiving of friends for Bob will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 4:00-5:00 PM with a Celebration of Life following at 5:00pm at Central Baptist Church-Family Life Center in Fountain City, 5364 N. Broadway St., Knoxville, TN 37918.
