Carol Shuster Burton

Carol graduated from Tyner High School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and Lincoln Memorial University Caylor School of Nursing. Carol worked as an oncology nurse at several hospitals in Knoxville. Carol was most recently employed at Tennessee Cancer Specialists. She had a passion for caring for her patients and their families. She cherished all the time she spent with her coworkers and boss, Dr. Daniel Ibach. In her spare time, she liked to follow University of Tennessee Vols sports, listen to K-Pop music, and go to Disney World, concerts, musicals, and movies.

Carol was preceded in death by parents, George and Betty Shuster and father-in-law Charles Burton, Jr. She is survived by husband, Doug Burton; daughter, Sarah Burton; siblings, Susan Douglass and Dr. Larry Shuster (Cheryl Tanner Hall); mother-in-law, Virginia Burton Murdock (Doug); brother-in-law, Rick Burton (Lauren); nieces and nephews, Brian Douglass (Maria), Beth Smith (Dr. Cole), Dr. Kate Shuster (Ryan Goetz), Dave Shuster, Sloan Burton, and Avery Burton; several grand nieces and nephews; goddaughter, Meggan Slade (Jonathan); and special family and friends, Chase Darrell, the Keiths, the Shouns, the Murdocks, the Hancocks, the Monroes, the Williams, the Dankos, the Darrells, the Jacobs, and “the Gang”.

Family will receive friends Monday, August 19th from 5-7pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with funeral service following at 7pm. Dr. Carter Davis officiating. Graveside service will take place Tuesday, August 20th at 11am at Lynnhurst Cemetery, meeting at the graveside at 10:45am. Flowers are welcome.
