Crews, Charles Leslie, 87 yrs. old, of Knoxville, TN went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Oct. 1, 2014. Mr. Crews was born in Daytona Beach, Florida, March 3, 1927. Recently a resident at Ben Atchley Tennessee State Veterans Home he served in the Navy during World War II as a signalman on the U.S.S. Braxton. He used his GI Bill for flight training and then enlisted in the Air Force to be a pilot. After fulfilling his military obligations he returned to East Tennessee where he and his late wife, Betty, owned The Silversmith’s in Gatlinburg. In addition to jewelry design and casting, Crews was an accomplished abstract artist. Mr. Crews is survived by his brother Nixon Crews of Jacksonville, Fla. as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. Crews will be missed by special friends Greg Daniels, Charlie and Sammy Owens of Knoxville. Receiving of friends will be on Sunday, Oct. 5 from 4- 6 p.m. at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 2300 West Adair Drive .
