

David George LeCoultre, age 88, of Powell, Tennessee died in his sleep at his home on Saturday, December 4, 2021 with his caring and loving family by his side He had battled a brain tumor for several months. David was born March 3, 1933 to George Henry LeCoultre and Margaret Thompson LeCoultre. He was a former member of Meridian Baptist Church and for the past 53 years, he was a member of Cumberland Baptist Church. His education background included: graduated from Young High School, attended Indiana Tech Electronic School, graduated from East Tennessee State University with B.S. degree, graduated from University of Tennessee with M.S. degree, and completed several additional hours toward a Doctorate degree.
David proudly served in the United States Air Force, stationed in Tokyo, Japan during the Korean War. While he served there, he and friends climbed Mt. Fuji, which is the highest mountain in Japan.
David and Margie resided in Kingsport, TN for 5 years where he was a member of the Kingsport Jaycees. They were also members of Litz Manor Baptist Church.
David was a 50 year member of the Masons with the Burlington Lodge #763. He also was a member of Iota Lambda Sigma Fraternity #765 Beta Chapter.
David was a teacher for 30 years with the Knoxville City and Knox County School System where he taught Driver Education along with Industrial Arts. He won the East TN Industrial Arts Association Service Award for Outstanding Service in 1979-1980. He was also recognized as an outstanding teacher in 1971. David taught at South High School, Van Guilder Occupational Training Center, and Bearden High School.
David had the benefit of traveling and was pleased to have completed his trip to all 50 states. He and Margie traveled many times to Europe and was fortunate to spend time with his Swiss family in Switzerland.
David was preceded in death by parents, George and Margaret LeCoultre; daughter, Laura Deanne LeCoultre Lawson. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Margie Humphrey LeCoultre; daughter, Susan (Jackie) Reed; son-in-law, Don Lawson; grandchildren, Cody (Kynzie) Reed, Bryson Reed, Dean (Shelby) Lawson, Heather Lawson; great grandchildren, Natalie and Nathan Lawson, Adrian, MacKynlee, and Oakleigh Lawson; brother, Robert (Eloise) LeCoultre; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Tennova North Hospice especially, Karie, Megan, Melinda, and Shannon for their exceptional care.
A visitation for David will be held Tuesday, December 7, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with funeral service following at 6:00 PM. Rev. Kent Williams and Dr. Chad Crawford to officiate with eulogy by Mr. Dick Sampsel. A committal service will occur Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Lynnhurst Cemetery, meeting at the graveside at 12:45 PM. Pallbearers to include: Jackie Reed, Bryson Reed, Cody Reed, Mike LeCoultre, Don Lawson, and John Cutcher.
