Dillon Scott Long, age 20, of Knoxville, the beloved son of Timothy S. Long and Robin D. Long and big brother to Rachel Delaney Long, died on Saturday, February 13th 2016. A 2013 graduate of Central High School, Dillon was a passionate automobile and motorcycle enthusiast, whether he was racing or working on them. He could often be found out in the garage tinkering with his bike or car with his father. Even in death he was putting others first. Dillon, unbeknownst to his family and friends, listed himself as an organ and tissue donor on his driver’s license. Although no one was aware of this it didn’t surprise anyone who knew this kind, gentle, loving and giving person. Checking that box on that form has already saved the lives of numerous people. His last act serves as a reminder of the little things he did every day to make our lives better. To all those who knew and loved him, the world just got a little less interesting. Besides his parents and sister, Dillon is survived by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted A. Long, Sr. (Mary Lou) of Knoxville and Mr. and Mrs. Robert A. Martin, (Lanora) of Cleveland, aunts and uncles Ted A. Long, Jr. and Monica of Corryton, Terri Bryson of Knoxville, Tammy Long Chase of Knoxville, Cindy Lewis and Chris of Atlanta, GA, Robert A. Martin, Jr. and Carrie of Cleveland, numerous cousins and friends, and beloved dogs Buck and Molly. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 19th at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home in Fountain City. The Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, February 20th at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment Services will follow in Lynnhurst Cemetery. To honor Dillon, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Kiwanis Fresh Air Camp of Knoxville at www.knoxvillekiwanis.org or to The National Foundation for Transplants at www.transplants.org/about/mission. Please consider becoming an organ and tissue donor. Please visit www.berrylynnhurst.com to leave condolences for the family.
