

Dorothy “Sister Dot” Helton, age 84 of Knoxville, went home to be with the Lord on June 21, 2016. She was a minister of the Gospel, and had hosted a radio program for several years, as well as led the “Word of Life” ministry. “Sister Dot” loved working in her yard, reading her Bible and witnessing for the Lord. She was preceded in death by: sons: Joel and Jerry Helton; brothers Edward and Kenneth Shinlever; sister Mary Phillips; the father of her children, James “Bull” Helton; mother Ola Mulkey Shinlever and her father George Shinlever. Survivors include her sons: Ronnie (Kelly) Helton and Tim Helton; daughters: Debbie (David) Keebler and Jamie Helton Hyde; daughters-in-law, Lynda Helton and Chris Helton; grandchildren: Alison Helton, Zach (Natalie) Helton, Rodney (Kristi) Helton, Todd (Christy) Helton, Melissa Helton, Chezlee (Brandon) Heck, Hunter Helton, Brad Fullington, Xander Helton, MaKenna Helton, Tucker Hyde and Koby Hyde, along with ten great grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 10:00 am – 12 noon in the chapel of Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, with the Funeral Service following at noon. Pastor Phillip Murphy will officiate; also others are welcome to share their memories during the service hour. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and Grandchildren and great grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
