

Gerald Hobart Bellamy, age 84, was called to be with our Lord in heaven May 5, 2011. Gerald was born in New Market, Tennessee on Easter Sunday April 17, 1927. He proudly served in the Navy during World War II and was awarded Asiatic-Pacific, Victory and American Theatre Medals. He was employed by Atomic Energy Commission at Union Carbide as electrical supervisor and instructor at the K-25 plant retiring in 1985. He was a member of Fountain City United Methodist Church and the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was a member of Bright Hope Masonic Lodge and attained 32nd Mason. He enjoyed photography, electronics, reading, guns and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobart & Ninah Bellamy, his brother, Robert, and grandmother, Josephine Bellamy.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anna Mae Vaughn Bellamy, daughters and sons-in-law Linda Johnson of Fountain City, Carol and Mike Trentham of Clinton, and Leah and Tony Cross of Houston, TX. He had five grandchildren, Adam Johnson, Jessica Johnson Calloway, Chris Trentham, Travis Cross and Keith Cross. Nieces and nephews: Robin Bellamy Collins, Michael Love and Ronald Love. The family would like to extend their appreciation to nurses and staff of Summit View of Farragut for all their loving care, especially within the Jamestown Alzheimer’s Care Unit. Many thanks also to Caris Hospice for their assistance.
Family will receive friends from 6 – 7 pm Monday at Fountain City United Methodist Church with the funeral to follow at 7 pm with Rev. Jim Whedbee officiating. Family and friends will meet at Greenwood Cemetery at 10:45 am for an 11 am interment. In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to Fountain City United Methodist Church or Alzheimer’s research.
