

He was in the Navy for 20 years (1947-1967). After retiring from the Navy, he worked and retired from Union Carbide and Martin Marietta. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Knoxville, TN. He was a Shriner and member of Burlington Lodge for 20 years. He enjoyed golf trips, traveling, UT sports and working for many years as an usher at UT Basketball games.
He was preceded in death by parents, Miller and Hazel Coffey; daughter, Debbie Coffey; brothers, Tim and David Coffey; sisters, Betty Evans and Judy Meadows. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Coffey; sisters, Joy Adams (Frank), and Vera Cavin-Phillips; sons, Dick Coffey (Wendy), Nick Coffey (Lori); grandchildren, Clark Coffey (Katie), Claire Coffey Mashburn (Ethan); great-grandchildren, Leighton and Piper Coffey; and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather at Greenwood Cemetery for a graveside service on Friday February 4, 2022 at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Sacred Ground Hospice House, 1120 Dry Gap Pike, Knoxville, TN 37918.
