

James Drinnon Raines, aged 93, of Knoxville, TN went home to be with his Heavenly Father on December 14, 2025 at 9:20am. He worked at Dodge truck plant and Hudson Motor Co. in Detroit, MI for four years. James then went to work at Avondale and Pet Milk Co. in Knoxville. He retired from Chevron Chemical Co.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Mac Raines and Eva Jeanette Poor Raines; brothers and sisters, Charlotte Raines Williams, Opal Raines Varner, Mammie Raines Long, Robert Raines, Jr., Chester Raines, Joe Brewer; wife of 64 years, Julia Bess Webber Raines; daughters, Carol Dee Raines Cox and Kimberly Diane Raines Sharp. He is survived by daughter, Deborah Kay Raines Jones; sons-in-law, Harold A. Jones and Michael R. Sharp; grandchildren, Anthony Cox (Rebecca), Michelle Cox Butcher (Robert), Tommy Jones, and Jennifer Sharp Acuff (Mark); great grandchildren, Marcus Drinnon Womble, DeeAnna Womble, Corbin Acuff, Carley Acuff, Carson Acuff; one great- great grandchild, Avery Womble.
James enjoyed being around people and always doing something to help others. His goodness and love will always be remembered and he will always be missed. The family would like to thank everyone who called, came, or sent messages and continued to pray for him. We would also like to thank all the pallbearers, Rev. Johnny Owens, and all the staff at Amedisys Hospice for all they did for James and the family.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 18th from 5-7pm at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home with funeral following at 7pm with Rev. Johnny Owens officiating. Graveside service will take place Friday, December 19th at 1pm at Lynnhurst Cemetery. Friends and family will gather at Berry Lynnhurst Chapel at 12:30pm for procession. Pallbearers to include: Harold Jones, Tommy Jones, Anthony Cox, Robert Butcher, Larry Hembree and Edward Grygiel.
