

Thompson, James Lemuel, age 86, of Knoxville, passed away Monday, September 24, 2012. He was a member and elder of Fountain City Presbyterian Church. He was retired with 40 years of service from TVA, where he served as Assistant Division Director of Power System Operation. He was a WW II Veteran and officer in the U.S. Navy. He graduated from the University of Auburn in electrical engineering and was a member of Eta Kappa Nu electrical engineering honor society and Tau Beta Pi engineering honor society. Preceded in death by wife of 54 years, Johnnie Faye Foster Thompson; sister, Margaret Thompson McClelland; daughter-in-law, Patricia Shields Smith Thompson. Survived by sons; James Lemuel Thompson, Jr. and wife Kathleen Tarver Archer Thompson, John Riley Thompson; daughter, Nancy Faye Thompson Sexton and husband Rex Martin Sexton; grandchildren, Meridith Jeanette Thompson Worden and husband John Taylor Worden, Adam Robert Thompson and wife Cassie Elaine Thompson, David Riley Thompson and wife Catherine Elizabeth Giordano Thompson, James Randall Thompson Sexton, Daniel Martin Thompson Sexton, Melissa Foster Thompson Sexton and fiancée Jason Todd Pinyon; great grandchildren, Amelia James Worden, Siena Faye Thompson, Ashlyn Lucia Thompson; sister, Mary Cathryn Thompson Kirkland; several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to recognize two very special friends and caregivers, Faye Douglas and Anna Collins. A memorial service will be 5:30 pm, Thursday, at Fountain City Presbyterian Church with Rev. Max Reddick and Rev. Dr. Sean White officiating.
