

Burchfield (Turner), Karen Fay age 72, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. Karen graduated from Carson-Newman College with a Bachelor of Music Education degree and received her Master's degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Tennessee. She was a retired elementary school teacher in the Jefferson County Public Schools (1978-2004) and was previously an organist, pianist and vocalist at First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson City and First Baptist Church of Fountain City. Karen was known for her generous heart and faith in God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Eugene Burchfield and Faye Maples Webb Burchfield; husband, Michael Wayne Turner; son, Andrew Michael Turner; sisters, Vivian Webb Heath and Gayl Webb Betterman.
Karen is survived by her daughters, Kristen Burchfield Collins (Shannon) and Kelsey Lynn Gribble (Joseph); brother, Thomas Paul Turner (Melissa); sister, Maleta Webb Bratcher; sister friend, Lynne Wilson (Dan); cherished grandchildren, Abigail Lynn Gribble, Asher Lee Wilson, Andi Elaine Gribble and Aliza Rose Gribble; several cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her special kitty, Cotton.
Family members would like to send a special "Thank You" to the nurses and staff at Fort Sanders CV Unit and to the friends who supported the family throughout Karen's illness.
Karen did not wish to have a formal service so we invite you to celebrate her life in your own way. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Fabled Farm Rescue and Sanctuary, 8413 Eaton Hollow Road, Christiana, TN 37037.
Karen was a special lady, incredible Mom and "KK" to her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
