

MERCER, REBA ROBERTS – age 90, of Knoxville went to be with Jesus on January 2, 2014. The youngest daughter of the late Graham and Inez Henley Roberts Sr. She grew up in Spring City and graduated from Spring City High School where she lettered in basketball and later met her husband. She retired from Holiday Inn and was a charter member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church. Reba was best known for her kind heart and giving spirit. She was a precious wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to everyone. Preceded in death by husband, Paul T. Mercer, Sr.; siblings, Esta Roberts Barton, Charles “Buster” Barton, Graham “Gube” Roberts Jr., and Orville “Buddy” Roberts; son, Paul T. Mercer, Jr.; and granddaughter, Martha Nicole McPherson.She is survived by her children, Del “Spanky” (JoAnn) Mercer, Jane (Mike) McPherson, Susan (Ed) Poore; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Floyd Mercer; grandchildren, Trevor (Tonia) Mercer, Shane (Dee) Mercer, Gina (Kevin) McNelly, Jill (Phil) Wallace, Derick (Heidi) Mercer, Darin (Katie) Mercer, Matt (Angie) Mercer, Jeff (Alissa) McPherson, Joel (Maria) McPherson, Tim (Jill) McPherson, Nick (Rachel) Poore, Andrew (Kimberly) Poore; 27 great grandchildren and 1 more on the way.The family will receive friends Monday, January 6 from noon till 2:00 at Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel on Adair Drive. The celebration of life service will be at 2:00; interment will immediately follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Services will led by Dr. Mike Boyd, Dr. Carter Davis, and Rev. Kent Williams. Her grandchildren will serve as her pallbearers.The family extends a special note of appreciation to the fine people of Windsor Gardens who lovingly cared for Reba during her last 2½ years of life.
