Richard Wilson Spining

Richard Wilson Spining, age 70, of Knoxville, TN passed away on April 24, 2023 at West Hills Hospice after a short battle with brain cancer. Richard (Rich) was born September 25, 1952. He graduated Bowman High School in 1970. He joined the US Army and earned a DD214 Honorable Discharge. Rich then graduated from University of Tennessee with a Bachelor in Fine Arts. He worked at TVA in the nuclear programs until he became independent, working as a Real Estate Developer and Auctioneer. Rich was a fun spirited soul who had a passion for horses. (Sea Biscuit being his favorite movie) and had an incredible artistic talent. He was known for his witty sense of humor and personality. He was a loving father and very proud of his children. Preceded in death by mother, Anna Jean Spining; wife, Patricia Diane Birdwell Spining. Survived by children, Christian Elliott Spining, Riley Alexandra Spining; stepchildren, Andrew Gibson Birdwell, McKenzie Rhea Birdwell; brother, Robert Spining (Jackie); sister, Renita Spining, Robin (Spining) Garson; nephews, Wesley Spining (Nichole), Dustin Garson (Shelley). The family will receive friends April 29, 2023 from 1 – 2 pm with a memorial service to follow at 2 pm at Cokesbury Church, 9908 Kingston Pike, Knoxville TN, 37922. The interment will be private.
