Born in Mascot, Tennessee, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Martha Elizabeth Armstrong Widner and John Arthur Webster. From these roots, she carried forward a life grounded in resilience, compassion, and a deep sense of responsibility to those around her.
Throughout her life, and especially within her home, Shirley placed her family at the center of everything she did. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Jamie Hale and Tina Hale; her son, Kenneth Ryan Hale; and her sister, Karen Shreve and Randy; half-sister, Angie Webster Kidwell and Steve. In every role she held—as a mother, sister, and friend—she offered steady support, encouragement, and unwavering care.
In addition to her devotion to family, Shirley expressed herself through her many talents. She was an amazing cook, gardener, and seamstress, known for her creativity and attention to detail. Through her life, she not only created beautiful pieces but also shared a part of herself with those she loved.
Equally important was her strong work ethic and generous spirit. Shirley was someone others could depend on, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer support whenever it was needed. Because of this, she leaves behind not only cherished memories but also a lasting impression of kindness and selflessness.
As her family and friends reflect on her life, they will remember her for the warmth she brought into every room and the care she extended so freely to others. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Shirley’s memory to the Pat Summitt Foundation or the Young-Williams Animal Center.
In this way, her legacy of compassion and generosity can continue to touch the lives of others, just as she did throughout her own life.
The family welcomes friends to a Visitation at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 2pm-4pm.
