Stephen R. Bales, age 75, of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018. He was retired from Southern Bell and had worked several areas of Georgia and North Carolina. Stephen was an active numismatist and very active in their association. He was in the Army Signal Corp during Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star for his service. Preceded in death by parents, Burchell and Edith Bales. Survivors include wife, Cheryl Bales; children, Karen Bales and husband Farshad Fatemi of Davis, CA, Stephen E. Bales and wife Mitzi of College Station, TX, Matthew Bales and Wife Kate of Knoxville, TN, Julie Vickery and husband Tim of Swarthmore, PA; grandchildren, Stella and Irene Bales, Caleb and Daniel Bales. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm Monday at Berry Lynnhurst Funeral Home, 2300 Adair Drive. Family and friends will meet Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery for the 11 am graveside service.
