

She was born in Harlingen, TX June 20, 1960. She passed peacefully at Valley Baptist Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Aurora, was a life-long resident of Harlingen, Texas.
She was a devoted wife and mother. Married to Berna Martinez for 36 years. She had one daughter Leticia Martinez and grandson Andre. She was a warrior, fought cancer since 2011. She had unrelenting strength and faith. She never gave up. She was lovingly referred to as “Yoya” by her friends and family. She had an amazing bond with her daughter and fell in love with her 2 year old grandson Andre. She was one of five sisters and referred to as the mother hen. She had a strong love for her family, her sisters, nieces and nephews.
Aurora was a woman of deep faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ. This faith helped her throughout her long struggle with Cancer.
She loved music. Her favorites were Stevie Wonder, ELO, The Bee Gees but most of all she loved Christian music.
She is preceded in death by her Grandmother, Aurora Montalvo, Parents Manuel & Oralia Salinas, Nephew, Leonard “Lee” Valadez and niece Rachel Cartwright.
Sisters: Olga V. Rodriguez (Mac Reyes) Christina Abounada, Alicia Valadez, and Minerva (David) Urbina.
Visitation will take place at Heavenly Grace 26873 N. White Ranch Rd. La Feria, Texas
Thursday, December 20, 2018 11-9 p.m. with Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2018 10-1 p.m. (Chapel will be open) Mass/Burial 1:00 p.m.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be: Emilio Medrano, Charles Edward Rodriguez, John Anthony Bach, Robert O’Brien Bach, Michael Anthony Abounada and Jose Manuel Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearer is Brandon Wayne Welch.
The family would like to thank Dr. Castillo and his special team for very special care they gave Aurora. Thank you to all the nurses in the Oncology floor/South Tower who helped Aurora feel like family and keeping her comfortable and at peace. Thank you Emilio Medrano for all the help and assistance he gave the family and Leticia throughout this journey. Lastly, special thanks to Texas State Technical College and Peter Piper Pizza for supporting the fight for 7 years.
