Evelyn H Phillipp

Evelyn was born on October 31, 1927, to Stanley and Minnie Stopak in Silver Creek, Nebraska.

In 1936, her family moved to the city of La Feria in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas. She graduated from La Feria High School in 1944, and attended Durham's Business College in Harlingen. She worked for many years for various accounting firms Evelyn was an active member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in La Feria. She was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Altar Society for over 50 years. She also was a member of the church choir for 65 years. In addition to her church activities, she served as an Extra Ordinary Minister of Holy Communion for about 30 years. This ministry was very special to her, and brought her much joy to be of service to the parish and those who were homebound.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lawrence Phillipp, who died on February 8, 2010, by her parents, her sister Phyllis Hodson, and her brothers Floyd and Lawrence Stopak.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Dr. Kathleen Phillipp (Dr. Randy) Daniell, Becky (Mike) Meyers, Mike Patricia) Phillipp, and John Paul Phillipp, and by her sister, Lillian Lievens.

Evelyn is also survived by her grandchildren, Kimberly and Courtney Daniell, Melissa (Mike) Ohliger, Jeffrey (Elise) Meyers, Ben Meyers, Zahn Phillipp, and Tara Vela, and her great grandchildren, Myer, Nolan, and Bowie Ohliger, and Julianna de la Garza, and Jade and Caleigh Macias, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Evelvn was a loving wife and mother. with a deep faith in God. She will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.

A Rosary will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church in La Feria, at 9:15 AM on Saturday, January 14, 2023. A Memorial Mass will follow at 10:00 AM at St. Francis Xavier Church, with Rev. Amador Garza, as celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Building Fund in La Feria, or to the charity of your choice.
