Memories of Israel were so beautiful and exciting during Israel his( brother-in-law)and I were growing up.  Every time it was prom time, he would lend his new cars to Israel to take me to prom. Since, we were very young when we were dating transportation was always a big factor. But he always made sure we would not miss our proms. I got to now him for the last 45yrs of our marriage, he was such loving individual and carrying for all his children, grandbabies, family and his church family. May you now rest in peace, you will be missed, and may God give comfort to his beautiful wife Ruth and all his children. In the mid 1950’s, my brother, Rev. Arnulfo Cantu, was the pastor of the church the Torres family attended. I was around eight years old at the time  and was living with my brother and sister-in-law. I got to be friends with Israel’s sister, Ruth and spent a lot of time at their house. Her brothers treated me like another sister, and, as brothers do, they teased me a lot and gave me a hard time. My favorite was Israel because he would always do something to make me laugh. My fondest memory is when he would rolls his eyelids back and try to scare me!  This was all way over 60 years ago! But I still cherish these memories and how special this family was to me. Israel, if I  wasn’t so far away, I would come and say my last good bye. RIP

My sincere condolences to the Torres family, Israel was a quiet, gentle giant, he was a servant of God while my uncle Miguel Cruz and my cousin Ruth pastored  the church in Mercedes.   He loved God, wife, his children 
and grandchildren unconditionally.  I thank God for the time we had him with us.  We lived a distance from them  but I knew  Israel would bring Ruth to visit my dad just to check on him.   Thank you  for your time and may God bring you and the family comfort during this difficult time.   Love & prayers

My dearest Tio and padrino.....my fondest memory was when Patty and I would go with you on trips to Houston when you were working for Trailways. Thank for all your love and kindness that you showed me. I will miss you dearly. 

My brother-in-law was a hard-working man and a good provider. I remember when he used to lend me his Chrysler road runner. I would borrow it and show it off. Sometimes I would race against my friends, even though he didn’t know that.  He also had a super sport Chevrolet. He really enjoyed having nice cars. He is going to be dearly missed. I’m sending my prayers to my sister and the entire family.
