La Feria, Tx. 01/19/1956- 04/28/2026
Martha, aged 70, passed away peacefully on 04/28/2026, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, resilience, and a kitchen full of strawberries. Known for her sharp wit and even sharper will to
live, she navigated life's challenges with a smile and a joke always at the ready. A true force of nature, Martha was a master of the multi-task. She thrived in her professional life as a talented manager, but her finest "management" occurred every November. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday, and she took great pride in preparing her famous annual feast. It wasthe one day of the year where her skills as a leader and her love for family perfectly collided. While she was a dedicated teacher and "enforcer" of proper manners at the dinner table, herboys knew the rules were simply a way to honor the love she poured into every meal. To know Martha was to love her. She was a "people person" in the truest sense, making fastfriends with everyone she met. She found joy in the simple and the spirited: collecting her favorite jokes to share, decorating her home with her beloved strawberry kitchen decor, and
doting on her loyal dogs. When she wasn't at home, she could often be found at the casino, enjoying the thrill of the game and the company of others. Her favorite movie, The Wizard of Oz, was perhaps a reflection of her own life: she knew that "there's no place like home," but she also possessed the courage, heart, and brains to face any "wicked witch" that came her way.
Despite numerous health scares over the years, her fierce determination and love for life kept her moving down her own yellow brick road far longer than anyone expected. Martha is survived by her three sons, Louis Jasso, Andrew Jasso, and Michael Jasso and her sister, Margaret Kerg. She was preceded in death by her parents Howard A. Fletcher & Antonia Garcia Fletcher and her beloved pugs who undoubtedly met her with wagging tails.
In honor of Martha’s memory, the family asks that you tell a bad joke, share a hearty laugh, or enjoy a second helping of mashed potatoes in her name. She will be deeply missed, but as she
would likely say. "Somewhere over the rainbow," she is finally at peace
