Ofelia Martinez

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ofelia Martinez, who left this world on September 20, 2023, at the age of 74. Born on June 26, 1950, in Harlingen, Texas, Ofelia was a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother.

Ofelia was known for her warm spirit and attentive nature. She took great joy in cooking, particularly her beloved tamales, which brought family and friends together during countless gatherings. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where the aromas of her delicious meals filled the air, creating a welcoming environment for all.

An avid gardener, Ofelia found peace and joy among her plants, nurturing them with the same love she poured into her family. Her home was always a reflection of her organized and meticulous nature, a testament to her dedication to creating a warm, inviting space for her loved ones.

Above all, Ofelia cherished the time spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was a pillar of strength and support, always putting her family first. Her laughter and kindness will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.

Ofelia is survived by her husband, Jaime Martinez; her daughters Olivia Jacqueline Betancourt; Isabel Martinez; and Esmeralda Gonzalez; her sister in law Virginia Davila; her grandchildren Kimberly Marie Betancourt, Joshua Betancourt, Nathan Joel Betancourt, Danielle Nicole, Seth Isaiah, Roberto Jaime Esparza, Alejandro Gonzalez, Erik Gonzalez, Damian Gonzalez and her great-granddaughter Lyla Ximena Esparza.

Ofelia was preceded in death by her parents Enrique Prado and Ernestina Gonzalez; her brother Enrique Prado and her sisters Enedelia Prado and Rosalinda Prado.

A visitation for Ofelia will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home. A chapel service will occur Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a burial at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park.
