It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ofelia Chamberlain Quezada, born on November 28, 1946, who passed away on February 4, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Ofelia's life was defined and characterized by her unwavering devotion to her family and her profound love for everyone around her.
Ofelia married her true love on January 29, 1968, and shared 58 years of marriage with her husband, Gregorio Molina Quezada. Being a mother was at the center of Ofelia’s life, and she never missed a chance to boast about her entire family, which she did everywhere she went with anyone who would listen.
Ofelia was a graduate of Harlingen High School, class of 1965. She was so proud to be a Harlingen Cardinal. It was one of the reasons the cardinal was her favorite bird.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gregorio Molina Quezada; her children, Melissa Ann Dunkle and her husband, Kevin Dunkle; Mary Alice Perez and her husband, Tony Perez; Gregorio Quezada II and his wife, Theresa Quezada; and Gerald Henry Quezada and his wife, Crystal Quezada; her grandchildren, Mary Alice Q. Dunkle, Matthew Scott Dunkle, Kane Quezada Womack, Vanessa Thalia Quezada, Mikel Marrissa Dunkle, Anna Noelle Quezada, Cole Lee Womack, Gerald Gregorio Quezada II, and Gregorio “Trey” Quezada III; and her great-grandchildren, Jonathan “JD” Greyson Dunkle and Mikel Damien Dunkle-Klatt.
If you knew her, you knew she loved the Dallas Cowboys. And if you didn’t, she was never shy about letting you know exactly how she felt about “her boys.” Ofelia had a deep love for music, especially Tejano music, something that was always part of her life and her home.
Ofelia’s kindness, strength, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Though Ofelia is no longer with us, the love she gave and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of her family.
Visitation (viewing) will be held on Tuesday, February 10th, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a procession beginning at 11:00 a.m. to honor several places that were meaningful to her. A time of setup will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. before the viewing begins.
