

Petra Salazar Gonzales, 89 a lifelong resident of Harlingen, TX passed away at her residence on December 2, 2020. “Pat” as she was known to many, was born on December 24, 1930 in Combes, Texas, to Eufracio Salazar and Ester Sloss Salazar.
Petra was married to Francisco C. Gonzales for 72 years and they were blessed with five children. She leaves behind her loving family to share her wonderful memory and legacy, Francisco S. Gonzales Jr., Yolanda Aguilar (Juan), Gustavo S. Gonzales (Diana), Belinda Zuniga (Porfirio), Yvonne Gonzales (Robert), Special daughter-in-law, Olga Kizer and her spouse Jerry.
14 Grandchildren, Michelle Yvette Avila (Ruben), Melissa Ann Darden (Eric), Francisco Gonzales lll (Frankie), Sandra Maribel Aguilar, Juan Javier Aguilar (Terri), Cesar Gabriel Aguilar (Karla), Jennifer Diane Flores (Kristopher), Lauri Ann Torres (Eliut), Justin Andrew Zuniga (Melani), Krystle Erin Zuniga (Nick Dietz), Kaycee Alena Liendo (Raul), Larissa Yvonne Patten (Kelly), Alyssa Yvette Garcia, Patrissa Lynn Iriawan (Hengky).

9 Great-Great Grandchildren, Sean Alexandro Cortez, Emma Mikaela Cortez, Adam Scott Cortez, Levi Campbell-Newman, Nathan Isaiah Salas, Colton Elijah Salas, Alejandro Nikolas Pena, Andrew Armani Pena, Ayden Elizandro Pena.
Her sisters Lucy Greene, Juanita Gonzalez, Anita Mendiola, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her 3 brothers and one sister and three sister-in-laws.
Her loving family will miss her deeply, but know that she is now in heaven with her loved ones. Petra instilled in her family a deep and abiding faith in God and shared her faith and love with all that she knew. She touched many lives and treated all friends like family. She lived her life to serve others. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and she always made birthdays and celebrations extra special. She was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays, and many can swear to her delicious meals as well as her genuine, generous hospitality. She loved gardening, shopping, gambling, and playing Chalupa with family and friends. She retired from South Texas High School, where she served as a Teacher Assistant.
Her family would like to extend a special thanks to her loving provider Edith Barrera for her care and devotion as well as United Health Care, Family Residency Doctors, and Only Love Home Care, we will be forever grateful for your care during this difficult time.
A visitation for Petra will be held Friday, December 4, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home, 26873 N. White Ranch Road, La Feria, Texas 78559, with a Prayer service at 7:00 PM. A Chapel service will occur Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 10:00 AM. with burial to follow at 11:00 AM at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park., 26873 N. White Ranch Road, La Feria, Texas 78559.
