Roger was born on the family farm outside of Hudson, South Dakota to wonderful parents, Albert and Adeline (Schuldt) Miller on September 01, 1933. Roger was the fifth of seven children.
Roger graduated from Hudson High School in 1951. At the age of 20 he enlisted in the U.S Marine Corps and served for two years in the Korean War until the end of the war.
In 1953, following the passing of his father, Roger took over operations of the family farm outside of Hudson. He and his wife Rose (Bushnell) Theodoredis lived on the farm for many years, where they raised two daughters, along with corn, soybeans and pigs. After retiring from farming, Roger spent many years working as a Federal Meat Inspector at the Morrell Packing Plant in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Roger had many hobbies throughout his life and truly lived life to the fullest. From and early age, he was an avid fisherman. He also enjoyed hunting and traveling and he never met a stranger.
Roger was immensely proud of his military service and remained deeply connected to his fellow veterans throughout his life. He was a lifelong member of both the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. One of the highlights of his later years was being honored as a guest on an Honor Flight, where he had the unforgettable opportunity to visit the national war monuments alongside his fellow veterans.
For the final 25 years of his life, Roger was a winter Texan, living in a retirement community among many retirees from all over the U.S. He cherished his life at Casa De Sol Retirement Park and it was here where he met Linda. Though they had been sweethearts since 2004, Roger married Linda on January 5, 2019. They enjoyed going to dances, fishing along the Gulf Coast, attending high school football games, and taking day trips to Nuevo Progresso, Mexico. In the summer, they journeyed together to the Black Hills of South Dakota, exploring country dirts roads and immersing themselves in the rich Native American Culture. Their favorite experiences included visiting and climbing to the top of Harney Peak (which he did until the age of 77) and attending pow wows together.
Roger is already greatly missed by his two daughters, Penny (Gary) Dylla of Wichita Falls; and Tammy (Steve) Calderon of Orlando, FL. Roger was a wonderful grandfather to his seven grandsons: Christopher, Nicholas, Michael Calderon, Brady and Zach (Kristen) Dylla.
Roger is survived by his wife Linda of Donna TX as well as Linda's daughters; Liza Ybarra of Rio Hondo TX, Linda (Mike)Shannon of Mesquite TX, and Daniell (Sandra) Vasquez of Austin TX as well as his two grandsons Joel Shannon and Gilbert Ybarra.
Preceding him in death were his parents and siblings; Harvey, Hilda, Howard, Doris, Mary and Joann.
