Heavenly Father, I pause, mindful of the many blessings you have bestowed upon me. I ask that you will guide me. I ask that you will guide me in my life. Help me, Lord to live in such a manner that when I make that last ride to the country up there, where the grass grows lush and he water runs cool, that you will take me by the hand and say, “Welcome home cowboy. “ Amen

Ruben is survived by his children Ruben Mares Jr (Lydia); Norma Mares Rodriguez (Jose L. Rodriguez); Ricardo Mares; Rene Mares (Gabby); and grandchildren, Michelle De Hoyos, Krystie Mares, Luis Isaiah Rodriguez, Jacob Rene Mares, Mariah Mares, Ruben Mares III, Christopher Mares, Vanessa Rodriguez, Kalup Mares, and great grandchildren Jedaiah, Mario, Adam, Noah, Ezra, Amberlynn, Aryal, Sora, Mia, Marciano, Amaleeyah, Santino and Elisiana. He also survived by his companion Pearl Trevino and step kids Mathew and Mark.

Ruben preceded in death by Erlinda Huerta Mares, his mother Diamantina Mares and son Rene Mares
