Teresa M. Alcantara

Teresa was born on October 15, 1938.Teresa was born on Oct. 15, 1938 in Los Esteros Tamalepas, Mexico and arrived in Harlingen, Texas at the age of four with her mother. She married Jose R. Alcantara on March 17, 1955. They lived in Harlingen until 1987 when they moved to San Benito.

In Genesis 9:7 the Lord says "Be fruitful then and multiply, teem over the earth and subdue it!" and she did.

Teresa had ten children. Victor M. (Marcela) Alcantara, Jose A. (Chong) Alcantara, Juan C. Alcantara, Rosa E. Bisch, Jose R. (Sandra) Alcantara Jr., Luis A Alcantara, Maria T. (James) Faires, Miguel A. (Laura) Alcantara Sr., Francisco J. (Bella) Alcantara and Marta C. (Daniel) Ramirez, twentyeight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was god-mother to many, friend and comadre to many many more.

Matthew 25:35-36 says "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you made me welcome, lacking clothes and you clothed me, sick and you visited me, in prison and you came to see me."

For Teresa, these were not mere words. They were her way of life. Her home was open to all. She was always ready to feed you. She never had much but was always willing to share what she had. The one thing she was rich in, was "LOVE". This is why most who knew her became one of her family and either called her "Mom" or "Abuela).

Teresa M. ALCANTARA was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Jose R Alcantara Sr.

The Alcantara family wish to express their deep appreciation to Benjamin and Imelda Hernandez for their support and generosity and to the staff of Kindred Hospice and Valley Baptist Hospital for the care of our mother.

Visitation will be on Friday May 5, 2017 1 pm - 9 pm rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral will be at Our Lady of The Assumption on Saturday May 6, 2017 at 1:00 pm Interment to follow at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park. Arrangements under the direction of Heavenly Grace Funeral Home, La Feria, TX.
