

Thomas “Tom” Chebuhar of Pharr, Texas, formerly of Des Moines, Iowa, passed from this world on November 10, 2022. Tom was born on July 20, 1947 in Centerville, Iowa to Frank and Mary (Swab) Chebuhar. He graduated from Dowling High School in 1965 and was in the US Air Force from 1966 to 1970. Most of his life was spent as an over-the-road truck driver. He visited all 48 contiguous states and Canada. He also owned and operated Freedom Machines Harley Davidson Motorcycle Shop in the 1970s.
Tom is survived by his wife, Carlene, of Pharr, Texas; son Ken (Carol) of Urbandale, granddaughters Kelsey and Megan Chebuhar; son Robert (Amy) Galbraith of Terre Haute, Indiana, grandchildren Alanna and Blaise Galbraith; stepchildren Mary (Kelly) Tromblee and Robert (Brenda) Thompson all of Waynesville, Missouri and grandchildren Jacob and Abigail Tromblee of Missouri and Logan Thompson of Urbandale, a nephew Davorin Chebuhar of Rijeka, Croatia, niece Sladana Bolf of Fuzine, Croatia, his special “bud” brother-in-law Steve Seiberling and his two very loved girls Gabby and Bootsie. Although he was an only child, Tom is also survived by several very special brothers of his heart…Bob Bubon, Denny Roff, Jimmie Campbell of Des Moines; Phil Bush of Mesa, Arizona and Peter Merigis of Kentucky as well as a host of other friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, half brother Ivan Chebuhar, in-laws Carl and Hazel Seiberling and stepdaughter Melinda Farnsworth.
