She was born on April 4, 1935, in Shelbyville, Kentucky, to the late Robert and Roberta Vaughn (Dawson) Shaddock. Betty’s life was one defined by quiet strength, steadfast faith, and a deep devotion to family and service.
Betty dedicated 17 years of her professional life as a bookkeeper at Anita Springs, where she was known for her diligence and reliability. Prior to that, she proudly worked for Stock Yards Bank & Trust and LaGrange Key Market. A faithful and active member of LaGrange Baptist Church, Betty lived her life grounded in Christian service and compassion.
Outside of work, Betty found joy in caring for her home and maintaining the beautiful property she and her husband shared in LaGrange. Above all, her greatest joy came from caring for her family. She truly embodied the definition of a servant of Christ. Her unwavering love and dedication to her son, Bryan, were the cornerstone of her life. Together with her devoted husband, Fred, they lovingly shared life with Bryan by their side for 66 years. A bond rooted in faith, patience, and unconditional love.
Betty’s nurturing spirit extended well beyond her immediate household. She poured her heart into the lives of her grandchildren, especially during their early years, giving them her time, attention, and boundless love. These cherished moments created memories that will forever be held close in their hearts.
Left to cherish Betty’s memory are her loving husband, Fred C. Hammons; children, Bryan Hammons, Cheryl Lansford, Craig Hammons (Kerri), and Robin Whittaker (Tommy); grandchildren, Shannon Tipton (Bryan), Scotty Whittaker (Emily), Tyler Hammons, and Brooke Vicich (Parker); great-grandchildren, Easton Tipton, Eli Tipton, and Chris Hammons; sister, Judy Taylor; along with extended family members and many dear friends.
