Eugene Karl Rice

Gene was a retired plant manager from Oldham County Schools. He was also a machinist and an Air Force Veteran.

Preceding him in death were his wife of 16 years, Cheri Via; parents, Gordon and Ruth Rice.

Survivors include his children, Brian Rice (Alicia), Casey Rice, Natosha Cundiff (Rhys) and Tiffany Via; grandchildren, Elijah, Brody, Peyton, Hanie, Jack, Sylas, Shepherd, DavidMichael and Lucas; brother, Ronnie Rice (Rosemary); nieces, Emily Lindsey and Briana Rice.

Gene was a dedicated father and spent countless hours as a soccer coach and scoutmaster, building a community around his family. He was a friend to all, a stranger to no one, and could talk to anyone about anything. Whether it was fishing, bird watching, photography, or gardening, his life revolved around nature and keeping busy outdoors. He could grow citrus plants in Kentucky, pull a squid out of the ocean in Florida, and fix or build just about everything. Gene found a home away from home at the Osprey in Panama City Beach, Florida, where he lived every moment to the fullest. He will be loved and missed by many.

A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 28, 2022, at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home with burial to follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery.
