

He was born to the late James Clark Gambrel Sr., and Lucy Martin Gambrel in Knox County, Kentucky on August 11, 1943.
Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force and was a member of Good Shepherd Baptist Church. Jim enjoyed working on the church grounds and fellowshipping with the members, and was always up for a bowl of beans, cornbread, and buttermilk. Jim never met a stranger and loved children.
He is preceded in death by his Father, James, beloved mother Lucy, brothers: John, Wiley, Jack, Claude, Joe, and Thomas. Sisters: Peggy, Alice, Flo Etta

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 7533 Ballardsville Rd, Smithfield, Kentucky on Thursday April 24,2025 at 3PM with burial to follow in the church cemetery, A time of visitation will be at the church from 12PM until the start of the service.
