Martha Mae Williams

Martha was born on July 19, 1940, in Estill County, Kentucky, to Arnold B. McIntosh and Nellie Wiseman McIntosh.

If you knew Martha, you knew her to be a strong woman who lived out her faith by doing her best to be like Jesus. Martha was a devoted member of Buckner Christian Church. She was loving, compassionate, and hardworking. Many of you can attest to how hard she worked. She took in ironing, provided childcare, and did wallpapering and painting to supplement her income. She grew a lot of her food and would can and freeze it for the winter months (or her friends & family).

She was very talented and creative in her hobbies. Her mother, Aunt Marthie and Grandmother Laura McIntosh taught her to sew. She made clothes for her children and grandchildren; she learned to knit and crochet and LOVED to quilt. If you have one of her handmade items, you know the quality of her workmanship and feel the love in every stitch.

She was preceded in death by her parents Arnold B. McIntosh and Nellie Wiseman McIntosh; Moab Abshear, her husband of 27 years; her fiancé John Shultz; and Charles Lee Williams, her husband of 21 years; her brother L.B. McIntosh (Jean); her brother Sonny McIntosh; her sister, Myrtle Faye Tomlinson (Doug), her brother Donald Ray McIntosh; and her daughter-in-law, Helena Abshear.

She is survived by and will be cherished by her children, Debbie L. Kinberger (Eddie), Jeffery D. Abshear (Candice), Tim Williams (Shirley), and Chris Williams; brother, James McIntosh (Faye); sister, Cathy McIntosh Jennings (Ron); grandchildren, Jennifer Powell (Chris), Will Kinberger (Natasha), Justin Dale Abshear (Gabrielle), Abigail Shields (Devon), Issabella Collins, Mark Collins, Hartley Mae Abshear, Leslie Williams-Lacy, Rachel Williams (Brad), Scotti Williams (Jess), Dylan Williams (Savannah), and Jordan Gillard (Hank); great-grandchildren, Hayden Nicole Milliner-Abshear, Kyleigh Abshear, Bryson Abshear, Carter Abshear, Raelynn Abshear, Emilia Shields, Baby Boy Shields, Westylnn Williams, Paisley Williams, Maddie McCollister, Kinsley Williams, and Chelsea Buchanan (Heath); great-great-grandchild, Sawyer Buchanan; many nieces, nephews, family and close friends as well.

A visitation for Martha will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Buckner Christian Church, 2714 Old Cedar Point Rd, La Grange, Kentucky, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM. The family will share in a meal of fellowship following services at the church.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Kinberger, Jeffery Abshear; Justin Abshear, Will Kinberger, Devon Shields, Mark Collins, Donnie McIntosh, and Chris Powell. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryson Abshear, Carter Abshear, and Sawyer Buchanan.
