She was born to the late Mildred McCabe on Christmas Day in Jacksonville, Florida in 1935.
Maureen was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the American Kennel Club where she was known for breeding and showing Shetland Sheepdogs. She had a passion for art appreciation and history which led her becoming an educator at Jefferson Community College after getting her degrees from UofL in Art History.
She is preceded in death by her mother and the Navy man who helped raise her, father; Oliver Hand.
Left to cherish the memory of Maureen are her husband of 36 years; Avital Schurr, children; Bryan O'Bannon, Shawn O'Bannon, Brett R. O'Bannon, Barak Schurr, Hila Schurr, and Ori Schurr, grandchildren; Mahala King O'Bannon, Rowan Rudolph O'Bannon, Max Schurr, and Bailey Schurr, extended family and friends.
A celebration of Maureen's life will be held on Monday, April 10, 2023 at Noon at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, 706 W Jefferson St, LaGrange, KY with burial to follow at Valley of Rest in LaGrange. Visitation will be 10am until the start of the service on Monday at the funeral home.
