Roy Thomas Mason Jr.

Roy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, a legacy of service that continues with his grandson, Tyler, who is currently serving in Texas.

Roy was a man of many talents and a generous spirit, always giving back to his community. His unwavering dedication to athletics earned him the prestigious White Hat Award from the University of Wyoming, where he served as President of the Cowboy Joe Booster Club. He also held the role of President of the Cheyenne Quarterback Club and the Cheyenne Little League, where his children grew up playing sports.

An active supporter of Cheyenne Frontier Days, Roy contributed as a member of the Heels on the Security Committee and served on the Contract Acts Committee as a judge for chuck wagon races and parimutuel horse races—events he loved dearly.

Professionally, Roy was the proud co-owner of Capitol City Superfoods, a business he operated alongside his late mother-in-law, Ruby Bowen Leach. He served on the Board of Directors for the Rocky Mountain Food Dealers and the Associated Grocers of Colorado.

He is also preceded in death by his children, Edward Scott Mason and Tricia Charlene Mason; and sister, Robbi Elizabeth Ludwig.

Roy leaves behind a legacy of love and service. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Susan Bowen Mason; his proud son, Roger Mason; and his beloved grandchildren: Connor Mason (Lauren Siers), Tyler Mason, and Ruby Mason. He is also survived by his sister, Kathleen Hartsell (Ervin) of Midland, North Carolina, and nephew, Mason Lane Hartsell.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home, 706 W Jefferson St, LaGrange, KY 40031. The service will also be live streamed through Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home's Facebook page. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, prior to the celebration.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be directed to the University of Wyoming Foundation for the benefit of the University of Wyoming Athletics program in Roy's memory.
