Anita was born on October 14, 1932, in Casablanca, Morocco, the youngest of nine children of Jaime Azoulay and Maziltob Niddam. She married Ian Hill of Southbourne, England, on February 29th, 1956. Her eventful life spanned three continents, beginning with 31 years in Casablanca, followed by 12 years in Germany and 49 years in Texas, primarily in Dallas, and ending in Lakeway for the past 10 years.
Her early working years in Casablanca included stints as a fashion model and working for KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. While in Germany, she was employed by the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) as a manager of capital projects. She continued her work for AAFES after the family’s move to Dallas, where she served as a buyer of children’s clothing, a role that allowed her to make periodic buying trips to New York, a city that she loved and reminded her of life in Europe.
After retirement, she was able to devote more time to her favorite pastimes, which included cooking and baking. Her signature holiday season gift assortment of baked goods was always eagerly anticipated by others in the family. She also enjoyed sewing and knitting garments for her children and later, grandchildren. A passionate devotee of crossword puzzles, she was rarely without a pencil in her hand and could complete many challenging puzzles well ahead of native English speakers.
Anita is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Ian, son James and wife Juliana Marek of Houston, and daughter Patricia and husband Scott Stark of Austin. Grandchildren on the Stark side include Jessica and her husband Eric Wuensch of Marble Falls and their daughters Kinley and Hayden; Rebecca and her husband Jansen Albrecht of Dripping Springs and their son Baker and daughter Owen; and Walker Stark and his wife Gianina of Driftwood and their son Dean and daughter Cecilia.
A memorial celebration for family and close friends will be held from 2-4 pm on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home, 411 Ranch Road 620 South in Lakeway. An interment service for close family only will be held the following morning, June 6, at 10 am at Cook-Walden Forest Oaks Cemetery on West William Cannon Drive with Rabbi Sarah Avner officiating.
