Cristi was born on August 19, 1969, in San Angelo, Texas, to Frank Biggs and Joann Biggs (Brown). She graduated from Central High School and attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, for her undergraduate and graduate degrees. She discovered her passion for student affairs as an undergraduate, serving as a resident advisor and orientation leader. She began her career at the University of Texas at Austin as a student affairs administrator in 1995 and spent her career orienting students to the UT Austin campus during which time she impacted the lives of many students entering UT Austin as an Assistant Dean of Students.
Cristi loved her family, both the family of which she was born and the family she created. She had an extraordinary relationship with her sister and cousins, with whom she grew up and remained close to throughout her life. She loved and was loved profoundly by her partner Kathy and their two sons. They created a beautiful world together filled with laughter and fun. She was also an advocate and mentor to the many students whom she encountered over her tenure at UT Austin, and developed relationships with colleagues across the university and the nation that remained strong regardless of time or distance.
Cristi had an unmatched passion for life. She was the ultimate connoisseur of food, music, film, and her most treasured possession words. She was an avid reader and prolific writer, and many caught brief glimpses of her brilliance in a card or a letter. Words held great meaning to her, and she used them to lift up the many she touched throughout her life. She loved to laugh, and was the ultimate prankster.
Cristi had the ability to be exactly who she needed to be for every person whom she encountered, whether it was a single interaction or a lifelong relationship. She was a storyteller, a confidant, the comic relief, and one who truly listened. She lived many lives in the short time she was with us, and her spirit lives on in all she knew. She would want each of those she touched to live their life as she did, with great joy and appreciation of every moment.
Cristi is survived by her partner Kathy Fries and sons Jackson and Samuel Fries of Austin, Texas; her sister Julie Biggs Judson, brother-in-law Don Judson and niece Annabelle Judson of Midland, Texas; grandmother Jewell Thomas Cypert of San Angelo, Texas; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and beloved friends.
Cristi was preceded in death by her father and mother Frank Biggs and Joann Biggs Brown of San Angelo, Texas.
"A person isn't who they are during the last conversation you had with them - they're who they've been throughout your whole relationship."
Rainer Maria Rilke
