Donna Eileen Fitzgerald

Donna Eileen Fitzgerald, 82, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2024, in Lakeway, Texas with her loved ones by her side. Born January 1, 1942, in Calgary, Alberta, she was officially the City’s first New Year's Baby, earning her mother and baby Donna a front-page photo in the local newspapers. She enjoyed many New Year's Eve/Birthday celebrations over the years and was the life of the party. Donna loved entertaining and was a magnificent cook and hostess who always made everyone around her feel welcome and loved. Her sharp wit, her great sense of humor and her compassion and care for others was evident to everyone in her presence. Donna devoted her life to her family, raising three children and managing countless household moves across Canada and the US with grit and grace.

Donna was predeceased by her mother, Glenora Eisthen and stepfather Jack Eisthen, her father Harold Dix, and her former husband and father of her children, James Thomas "Tex" Fitzgerald. She leaves behind her partner, Gary Johnston and his daughter and grandchildren, brother Ken Dix and his children, her daughter Kelly Fitzgerald Newberg and her children Robert “Logan” Newberg and Leah Rose Newberg, her son Bradley Fitzgerald and his children James Fitzgerald and Jessi Fitzgerald and her daughter Victoria, and her son Patrick "Brent" Fitzgerald and his wife Pewee and children Rosa and Tom. She also leaves behind many loving cousins, nephews and nieces, along with countless friends and former co-workers who always felt her warmth, care and generosity.

Donna will be deeply missed by all her loved ones. The family will gather for a private Celebration of Life to be held on a later date. We are thankful for the family and friends that have reached out to express their love for Donna and her family.
