Georganne "Jan" Roth McDaniel

Georganne Roth McDaniel of Lakeway died on November 29th 2013 at the age of 96.

Jan was born on December 16, 1916 in Brookfield, MO. and grew up in Moberly, MO. She was the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth and George Roth. She was preceded in death by her husband, F.I. "Mac" McDaniel and her sister, Virginia Fisher of Columbia, Missouri.

Jan was valedictorian of Moberly Junior College and graduated from the University of Missouri. She taught math for several years before marrying her husband on July 3, 1941, They moved 19 times during Mac's career with General Electric, and every time they moved to a new town, Jan got involved in numerous community activities and organizations.

They retired at Lakeway in 1974, and Jan was very active in the Lakeway bridge club, book club, and play reading group. She was a member of the Lakeway Church, and she organized bus trips to the Austin Symphony and other arts events in Austin for a number of years. Jan was also a Golden Arrow member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her daughter and son: Ann Stinson of Omaha, NE (Ken) and Robert McDaniel of Spicewood, TX (Carol). She is also survived by her six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

The family is grateful to Hill Country Care Providers, Dr. Brent Bennett, Hospice Austin, her neighbor, Sandy Blakeway, and her dear friend, Ann Scott, for their wonderful care and concern during the last years of Jan's life.

A private memorial service with family and friends will be held at a later date.
