Son
Greg was born on July 5, 1977 in Allen Park, MI to Robert and Anita Heath. He played alto sax in the Michigan Marching Band and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan with a B.S. degree in Computer Engineering in 2000. He was particularly proud of writing all his notes and tests in cursive.
Engineer and Leader
Greg was an incredibly talented engineer and leader, with a two-decade career spanning numerous AAA and mobile studios across the country. Two years ago, Greg relocated his family to Austin where he began the final chapter of his career at SciPlay. He committed himself to continuously learning, and he loved creating teams where talent and personality could thrive in synergy.
Friend
Anyone who has ever crossed paths with Greg will be able to tell you a story of how intelligent, kind, funny, quirky or adventure-seeking he was. He was known for his infectious smile, contagious high energy, incredible kindness, witty humor and determined positivity. He was genuinely interested in people and loved hearing others’ perspectives on everything from politics to religion and anything in between.
Husband
He met Kathryn Attarian in college and when they put all the pieces together, they became a solid gold block. After college Greg and Kat ventured across the country- Chicago, Ann Arbor, and Seattle where they married and had two sons, Phoenix and Drake. Their latest adventure brought them to Houston and then Austin. Everywhere building an extended family of friends around them as they explored the world.
Father
Greg loved being a dad. He took joy in sharing his childhood loves with his boys, exchanging puns, and delighted in them besting him in Mario Kart and Euchre.
Many words describe Greg, in particular the word “Gregarious”. He was sociable, friendly, outgoing with friends and family. Greg was energetic and full of life and loved to experience things for the sheer joy of it.
Greg is survived by his beloved wife of 17 years, Kathryn (nee Attarian); his sons, Phoenix (almost 13) and Drake (10 years old); his dear mother Anita Heath; and his brother Michael Heath (wife Janine); plus many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Bob.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2021 in the Magnolia Room at Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis, 411 RR 620 South in Lakeway, Texas.
