Jackie Welborn Mahoney

Jackie Wiley Welborn Mahoney, 94, of Lakeway, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 6, 2022. Jackie Welborn was born on January 18, 1928, in Palestine, TX, to Jack Wiley Welborn and Ozie Murphy Welborn.

Jackie grew up in Palestine, TX graduating from Palestine High School in 1946. After high school Jackie attended Southwestern University and then, Sam Houston State University where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Education. She began teaching in Missouri City, Texas while working on her Masters Degree in Education, which she obtained in a few years. Jackie soon, met and then married the love of her life, James Richard (Dick) Mahoney on February 14, 1953 in Houston, Texas.

Jackie and Dick moved to South Texas and started a family. They had three little boys followed by two daughters. Jackie is best remembered for her inner strength, her passion for her family, and her amazing memory. She was a born teacher. She taught Language Arts and later Math in elementary school and at home she taught their five children to respect others, always do your best and never give up.

Jackie is survived by five children and their spouses: Mike Mahoney and wife, Susan of Fredricksburg, Texas; Jack Mahoney and wife, Marilyn of Plano, Texas; Pat Mahoney and wife Nancy of Coppell, Texas; Katie Dunn and husband John of Alice, Texas and Anne Roller and husband Kirk, of Bulverde, Texas, as well as seven grandchildren, Ryan Mahoney; Rob Mahoney and his wife, Elizabeth; Jack Dunn and his wife Kristi; Brian Dunn; Clay Dunn; Beth Roller Smothers and her husband Josh; and Blake Roller. In addition, Jackie had one precious great granddaughter, Ella Dunn, daughter of Jack and Kristi Dunn.

The family will be holding a private graveside service in Palestine, Texas.
