Sadly we lost Jeanne way too soon!!! She passed away at the age of 77 in Austin, Texas on Saturday, February 9, 2013.
She was born on April 25, 1935 in Aurora, Missouri. Her most fond memories of her early years were being raised on the farm by her loving and devoted Grandmother Sarah Rebecca Moore. The daughter of the most caring and adoptive Father Dr. Carl U. Dernehl (deceased), and birth Mother Willene Moore Dernehl. She grew up with them in Galveston and Texas City graduating from Texas City High School.
She attended UT in Austin and Southwestern in Georgetown where she met her first husband James "Choc" Orn. They married, lived, and worked for many years in Texas City. They had two children Rebecca Dianne Orn "Becky", and James Carl Orn "Jamey"(deceased).
In the late 60's Jeanne divorced and married Gerald D. Weatherly "Jerry". They and the children had many fun and exciting years living and travelling various places throughout Texas, Louisiana, The West Indies, and South America. Jeanne divorced Jerry in the late 70's and settled back in the Galveston, Texas City, area to live, work and be close to her best friends. In 2005 she retired and moved to the Houston area to be close to her daughter Becky and son-n-law Mark. When they retired and moved to Lake Travis in 2011 she lovingly came with them.
Jeanne worked very hard her whole life. During her career she was a Personal Assistant to many top level executives for various companies in Galveston, Texas City, and Houston. Her personal interests were sewing, cooking, decorating, entertaining, music and dancing. She loved to dance. Most recently she enjoyed watching the various "Housewives" shows, playing scrabble, and working crossword puzzles.
Jeanne fought and beat cancer three times over 40 years. She was a very strong willed individual, very determined in her beliefs. Her personality made her prettier. She was very smart, the most witty and funny character you could have ever met. Everyone loved her, and if you didn't, shame on you! Her most rewarding gift in life was her children. She loved them unconditionally and would have given her life for them, as they would have for her.
She is survived by her loving family; her adorable fury companion Bruiser, daughter Becky (Orn-Rupp) Loughead, son-n-law Mark Loughead, California cousin Janet Moore Payne and her family, extended family members in Great Britain, and so many wonderful friends, too many to mention.
RIP Mom Jeanne, we will miss you very much!
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 16th at 10:00 a.m. in the Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis Chapel.
