Karol Kirk Mobley

Karol Kirk Mobley, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. She was born in Ballinger, Texas on June 21, 1940. She was the only child of George Asa and Katharine (Kat) Penn Kirk. They moved to Austin where she was a graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School in 1958. After attending the University of Colorado and Mary Baldwin College in Virginia, she returned home and obtained a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas where she was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority.

After college, Karol was a third grade teacher in Houston where she met David Mobley from Kilgore, Texas. They married and eventually settled in Longview, Texas where they raised three children. Karol was a member of many clubs and an active volunteer during her years in Longview including Junior League of Longview, Longview Museum of Fine Arts, Longview Symphony, Good Shepherd Hospital, Longview Regional Hospital, Boy Scouts, Camp Fire Girls, and Pine Tree PTA.

After raising her family, Karol once again returned to Austin where she worked at Pharmaco PPD until retiring.

Karol is survived by her daughters Janet Mobley of Rockwall, and Donna Mobley Ripple of Austin; five grandchildren - Ryan Pannell of Rockwall, Melanie Ripple, Matthew Ripple, David Ripple, and Daniel Ripple, all of Austin. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Mark Mobley.

Karol’s family would especially like to thank the entire staff of Longhorn Village in Austin where she lived for many years, and Heart to Heart Hospice. Your care and compassion has been a blessing and we will forever be grateful.

Services for Karol will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 411 Ranch Road 620 South, Lakeway, Texas. Following the funeral service will be a committal service at 1:30 PM at Austin Memorial Park Cemetery, 2800 Hancock Dr, Austin, TX 78731.
