A celebration of life for Lee will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 411 Ranch Road 620 South, Lakeway, TX 78734.
Lee was born March 9, 1942 to RE and Ila Brooks in Trinity County. He died December 27, 2022 in Buchanan Dam.
Lee was a graduate of Groveton High School and the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.
Although he was a banker for 50 years, Lee was a modern renaissance man. He could build a house, make Barbie clothes, carve a toy boat from a piece of scrap wood, and rebuild an old Jeep. He could do basically any math in his head and type over 150 words a minute.
Always a private man, he never let his health slow him down. He usually didn’t even let on that he had anything even going on with him. He was an avid skier who also loved relaxing by the beach, whitewater rafting, and taking hikes in the mountains. He climbed Machu Picchu on his 70th birthday.
Lee was an avid golfer. If he wasn’t on the links himself, he was watching golf on tv or putting around in his living room. He also loved watching tennis on tv and rarely missed any of the action.
Lee had a wicked sense of humor. He always enjoyed a subtle prank and a Mel Brooks movie. He rarely missed an episode of South Park.
Upon retiring from banking, Lee split his time between Texas, Idaho, and various locations around the globe. He stayed for months on the beaches of Spain, Mexico, Belize, and Peru. He loved using his Spanish whenever he could. In his later years, he traveled around the country in his RV, seeing the sites in a new way and making friends all over the place.
Lee is survived by his daughters, Sherina Rochte of Lakeway, Texas and Monica Wier of Kuna, Idaho, his sister, Lila Gressett of Groveton, Texas, and his brother Don Brooks of Henderson, Texas and their families.
His family will be hosting a memorial service at 2:00 pm on February 11, 2022 at Weed-Corley-Fish in Lakeway to share memories and enjoy stories.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Planned Parenthood, Heifer International, or Bastrop County Animal Services.
