Philip Floyd Henderson, beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home in his favorite chair on September 18, 2024, in Spicewood, Texas. He was 86 years old. Born to William Floyd Henderson and Ruby Lee Burney on December 5, 1937, in San Diego, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronald (Ronnie), infant son Ronald, daughter Pamela, granddaughter Brandy Colon and grandson Michael Colon.
One of his greatest joys was on the Pedernales River fishing, boating, watching the fireworks, or just enjoying the beautiful sunset. He loved being behind the wheel of his boat pulling skiers or tubers, but if you decided to tube, your life was in his hands. His goal was to make you fly high, roll far, and scream. When he stopped laughing and you were half drowned, he would say, "ready to go again?” Phil embraced travel and the open road, spending many seasons exploring the country in his RV with his family and loyal companion Patches.
Family was an important part of his life and he took pride in helping to raise his four daughters Cynthia Little (Richard), Deborah Burch (Bill), Pamela Henderson, and Kristie Simo (Patrick), from his first marriage. With his beloved wife Marilyn, of 46 years, they created a blended family raising her two daughters, Chenelle and Coral, and later raised her two grandchildren Colette and Justin Wilcoxen.
He is survived by his 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought a special joy to his life and gave him many memories.
Phil joined the United States Air Force in 1955 and served in the Vietnam War. He retired with the rank of Master Sergeant in December 1975, after 20 years of dedicated service. Phil went on to complete a second career teaching electrical engineering at Austin Community College until his retirement in 2001. After his second retirement he dedicated his time to being a proud supporter of the Texas Longhorns and could be found at almost every sporting event.
His strength, humor, and profound sense of love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him. His presence will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him, but our cherished memories of him will live on.
