Shirley Cox left us on Saturday, April 14. She was in her element, knee-deep in sewing costumes for Lakeway Singalong. Shirley was a talented seamstress for the Singalong and the Lakeway Players. This was just the latest in a lifelong love of sewing, quilting and other creative endeavors.
She came to Lakeway after moving from Puerto Rico twenty-five years ago with her husband, Ralph. Both of them became involved in many community activities in Lakeway.
Shirley and Ralph raised three children; Marcia, Sharon and Allen, in Houston, TX. Her sewing skills were put to use for many drill team and theater productions during her time in Houston.
Shirley was born in Sanford, FL in 1930. In Florida she met a handsome navy officer named Ralph Cox. After fifty-seven happy years of marriage, Ralph passed away in January of this year. She is now with her husband. A memorial for Shirley and Ralph will be at Ft. Sam Houston on June 7.
