Wesley Donovan Perkins of Lakeway TX, and formerly of Waco TX, unexpectedly gained his eternal wings on Monday, April 22, 2024. Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Weed-Corley-Fish Lake Travis Chapel, located at 411 Ranch Rd 620 S, Lakeway TX, with burial to follow at Moore Cemetery, 5137 Gholson Road, Chalk Bluff, TX at 2:30 PM.
Wesley was born November 13, 1949 in Dallas, Texas to father, William Donovan Perkins and mother, Hazel Mae Green, both of whom have preceded him in death and are now celebrating their heavenly reunion.
Wesley enjoyed a highly adventurous life, featuring scuba diving, skydiving, water skiing, sailboat racing, motocross, yachting, woodworking and most especially flying. His mantra of a strong work ethic was second to none. He considered no challenge too hard and could repair anything in his path.
A mechanical engineer by trade, Wesley’s education began with an associate degree in HVAC from TSTC. After briefly dying and being resuscitated from a tragic shooting in 1998, Wesley refocused his second chance at life in full pursuit of his dreams, earning a bachelor degree from St. Leo University, followed by an MBA from Rice University at the young age of 56. As that was clearly not enough for him, he then earned his pilot’s license. He maintained a never ending desire to learn and better himself.
In 2008, Wesley moved to Austin, where he applied his tireless energy to improving the workings first of Round Rock ISD and later of Lake Travis ISD, in any way he could. He retired in 2020.
Wesley’s greatest passion was his love for family, especially for his sons and grandchildren, and above all for his true love, Meredith, who stood by him for 48 years in times both of great joy and great sorrow.
Wesley loved completely, protected his family and those he cared about fiercely and always fought for what he believed to be right, no matter the personal cost to himself. He always tried to put others’ needs ahead of his own.
Wesley is survived by his wife, Meredith, his sons, their better halves and children, his sister, brother, brother-in-law and their amazing families, and an entire world that is now diminished by his absence.
