

Cellie Ellis (Shorty) Emanuel
Cellie also known as Shorty was born to Napoleon Emanuel Sr. and Mary Lee Emanuel on October 28, 1950, in East Prairie, Missouri. He was the second child of eight children, where two preceded him in death, one brother (Johnny Emanuel) and one sister (Elaine Emanuel). Also, one granddaughter who he loved and cherished so much (Ronisha Chatman).
Shorty was an affectionate husband, father, and brother. He loved and admired his parents and siblings very much. Cellie grew up East Prairie where he graduated from East Prairie High in 1968. He earned All State football scholarship for his incredible defensive linebacker/tackle positions, but he decided to join the Marines Corp from 1970-1972.
Cellie’s real passion was trucking, which he started in 1972 in Bensenville, Illinois up until his final days where God called him home on December 22, 2021. Cellie met his wife Jevelon Brown in 1987 and they joined in holy matrimony on October 7, 1989. Cellie was also known as “Manuel”. He was her loving husband and best friend for 33 years.
He leaves to cherish his loving wife, Jevelon Emanuel. His brothers and sisters, Shirley Nailer Brewer (Chicago, IL), Richard Neil Emanuel (Charleston, MO), Barbara Ann Emanuel (Dixon, IL), Richard (June) Emanuel ( Bloomingdale, IL) and Napoleon Emanuel Jr. (Charleston, MO). His children, Nishelle Crawford (Jefferson City, MO), Marcus (Tomeka) Emanuel (Charleston, MO), Corey (Denise) Owens (Cape Girardeau, MO), Tracey (Anjie) Emanuel (Montgomery, IL), Brenton Jessica) Emanuel (Lincoln, NE), Cellion (Julissa) Emanuel (Palmdale, CA), Dynell Brown ( Los Angeles, CA) and Alfred Brown (Los Angeles, CA), and 19 grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
