

80, of Lancaster, Calif., passed away August 1, 2011. He was born in Westfield, North Dakota on February 15, 1931, to George and Gertrude Rowerdink. He was married to Darlene Schaefer in 1957. Gerdus is a veteran of the Korean War. After serving his country, he started his career as a lineman for IBEW, traveling the country. In 1965, he settled in Lancaster, Calif., with his wife and three children. After working for 42 years as a lineman, he worked at Antelope Valley Hospital for five years, finally retiring in 1995. Gerdus loved spending time with his family and traveling to visit his siblings. He was a season ticket holder for the Lancaster Jethawks, since the inaugural season. He also loved supporting local high school football. He is survived by his wife, Darlene Rowerdink and his three children, Ginger O’Donnell (Patrick), George Rowerdink (Maryanne), and Darla Garcia. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren Megan Rowerdink, Melissa Snyder (David), Brandon Garcia, Shannon Garcia, Carrie Nolan (Mike), Amanda Woods, David Woods, Kourtney Garcia, and Koury Garcia; and his six great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, August 8, 2011, at the Lutheran Church of the Master, 725 East Avenue J, Lancaster CA 93535. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lutheran Church of the Master. Arrangements entrusted to Joshua Memorial Park & Mortuary, Lancaster.
